NOW OPEN: The largest human-made Lagoon in the country
Mirada, a master-planned community by Metro Development Group, has officially opened its 15-acre Lagoon in Pasco County, Florida – the largest human-made lagoon in the country.
The Lagoon features crystal blue waters, soft-sand beaches, and a wide range of activities and programming, giving Mirada residents the opportunity to live a coastal lifestyle and enjoy the sun in the Tampa Bay area suburbs of Pasco County.
To celebrate the opening of this local destination, MetroPlaces brought together local vendors, carnival attractions, and local entertainment to the white sand beaches of Mirada Lagoon. Thousands of residents and tourists attended two whole days of events with friends, family, food, and excitement.
Below is a recap of some of our favorite activities and a look forward to see how visiting the Mirada Lagoon is now one of the best things to do in Pasco County, Florida.
Community events kick off with water skiing and jet packs on the crystal-clear Lagoon
Once inside the kickoff event, guests saw stilt walkers in full sea-themed costumes, a strolling comedian bringing laughter to the seashore, a bicycling juggler, and hula-hoop acts spinning with energy.
Guests also enjoyed numerous shows throughout the two-day celebrations, including a water skiing show (pictured above) and a hydro flight jet ski aerialist experience (pictured below).
A carnival opens on the Lagoon shore
Guests at the opening event were also welcomed in by a carnival at the front gates featuring entertainers in elegant sea-themed costumes.
From free cotton candy and popcorn to the view of the crystal clear Lagoon from the top of the ferris wheel, the carnival took this experience to the next level. Funnel cakes and midway games brought back childhood memories and added a unique twist for the whole family. The roller coaster, carnival slide, and merry-go-round brought joy to the Lagoon shore.
Titus O’Neil makes a splash in Pasco County
WWE World Ambassador and former American professional wrestler Titus O’Neil was the guest of honor at the opening weekend. He spent the weekend swimming and enjoying his time on the water, living it up in the Lagoon Lifestyle. He even spent time in a kayak and on the floating obstacle course!
Live local music brings the community together
The energy was high at The Hub, the onshore entertainment area, with guests and residents jamming out to Pasco County favorites. Soul Circus Cowboys took the stage first and could be heard across the water. Other local favorites like Rich Sheldon and Jeff Jarrett rounded out the celebration.
